The Hoffman Estate
I was referred to Eric Ziemer by our probate attorney while managing my father’s estate after he passed away. What made our situation challenging was that my sister and I live out of the area. I live in South Florida and my sister lives in Australia. This made our ability to manage the settlement of the estate extremely difficult. We needed to figure out how to clear out the home, get it sold and close on the property while living thousands of miles away. What a blessing it was to have such a great team of professionals managing this on our behalf.
Eric and his team came in and handled everything for us. First, he suggested we get a power of attorney in place so that I could sign on my sister's behalf and streamline the process since she is out of the country. That proved to be a great idea and saved us a lot of time. Next, he laid out what our options were for selling the home. Based on his recommendations, we decided to do some repairs and spruce up the home so that we could sell it for a higher price. He had a great estate sale company that inventoried the contents of the home and performed an estate sale. We were able to set aside family heirlooms and Eric even shipped them to Florida for me. Eric’s wife Jennifer chose new flooring and paint colors and had their team of contractors perform the work. Once the work was completed, Eric brought in a professional photographer, created some beautiful marketing materials, and listed the home to sell. He immediately hosted an open house and was able to secure multiple offers. We accepted a full price offer the first weekend. We were beyond thrilled to get the home cleared out, renovated and under contract in less than 6 weeks from the first time we spoke with Eric.
His attention to detail and communication throughout this process has been above and beyond what we could have hoped for. The best thing about this experience is we never had to travel to Virginia throughout the entire process. We were always confident that Eric and his team had our best interests at heart and we trusted them every step of the way. Once we were under contract, things got challenging with my sister living abroad. Eric was instrumental in problem solving to make a way for my sister to sign, notarize and ship the closing documents while traveling in South America. Never once did he give up on trying to find a solution and we could not be happier to have our father’s home SOLD.
